16 rules of space arrangement that will improve life

Try storing things vertically and stick to the “shopping bag” rule.

Properly organize your home space can be difficult. Especially if you are not a clean person by nature. However, even the most organized people are not magicians – they just follow proven rules and tricks that gradually turn into habits. You can do the same – start with these simple best practices.

Putting Every Thing in Its Place

Putting things back where they belong makes the difference between people who lose their keys, glasses or wallet all the time and those who know where to find things. When each item has its own “home,” the question of where to put something simply doesn’t arise. And if an item is left “homeless” all the time, think about whether you need it at all.

Replace one thing with another.

When you bring something new into the house-whether it’s clothes, a toy, or a book-a close look at everything you already have. Maybe you’ll find a T-shirt in your closet that you haven’t worn in a year, so it can take the place of a new one. And you can give the old stuff away, for example, to charity.

Tuck stuff away in the same place.

Keep a drawer in your closet for small items. Tuck away the things you need that have nowhere else to put them. Try not to let one drawer turn into several. If it does, it’s time to clear out the piles and throw away what you don’t need.

Store small things in big ones.

Instead of spending hours thinking about how to fit everything in your closet, put things together. That way they take up less space and are much easier to find. For example, you can tuck smaller suitcases into larger suitcases.

Store things vertically.

When you don’t have enough space, you can put things on the refrigerator or kitchen cabinets. Yes, you’ll have to get up on a chair to get everything out, but you won’t clutter up useful space with things you don’t use too often.

Use hooks.

Attach as many hooks as you can to the inside of doors, walls, and other places where you need extra space. Now, instead of throwing your jacket on a chair after work or putting a towel on the washing machine, you can hang them neatly.

Try a hanging shoe coffer.

This is a very effective element of space organization. Such a case holds a lot of things, besides, it can be placed in a narrow space, such as a closet. You don’t need to put shoes in the shoe box, you can just keep cleaning supplies, toys, cosmetics, or anything else you want.

Clean up on your own time

Free up a few minutes? Get rid of things you don’t need. Organized people don’t wait for general cleaning – they use every opportunity to make the space around them at least a little bit cleaner.

Put away children’s toys and pets’ toys.

Put away 50-75% of your toys in the closet so they’re not lying around the house. And once your child or pet gets bored with the old toys, you can replace them with “new” toys. Buy things with extra storage space
When choosing new furniture, look for models with special storage drawers. They will make your life much easier.

Be organized and chaotic at the same time.

Even if you’re not a neat person by nature, you can always make the creative clutter around you more organized. For example, put your shoes in a big wicker basket, leave your gloves and hats in special organizers, or keep all your remotes in a pretty vase.

Follow the “shopping bag rule.”

Always keep one shopping bag in the house to put things you no longer need in it. After it’s full, give everything to charity or recycling.

Stick to minimalism.

The basic principle of minimalism is to only surround yourself with things you absolutely need. The fewer items in your home, the easier it is to organize your space. Minimalism should also be your guide when shopping and try not to buy unnecessary things.

Don’t be sentimental.

We often fall into the trap of nostalgia, which does not let us get rid of memorable but completely unnecessary items. Learn to let go – after all, they’re just things.

Get creative.

You don’t have to use things for their intended purpose. For example, if you have a big family and everyone has their own umbrella, you can tuck them into a large vase or champagne bucket. This would diversify the interior and make the space neater.

Don’t follow patterns.

Don’t limit yourself – any item can be used however you like. For example, keep jewelry in small compartments of a toolbox and a collection of bags on a bookshelf.
